Chicken Scratches
Fourth Quarter 2006
Welcome to the fourth quarter 2006 edition of our online newsletter, Nest Fresh News! Our goal is to introduce you to what is happening here at Nest Fresh, and with the world of chickens and eggs in general. There seem to be a lot of people, like you, who are committed to a healthy, humane alternative to regular caged, factory farm eggs. As always, our hens roam freely in large barns with at least a square foot allotted per bird. Our farmers never use cages, chemicals, pesticides, hormones or antibiotics, and we feed the birds a strict vegetarian diet with no animal fats, cholesterol or by-products.
Please check back here periodically and see the updates we have posted about what's going on with Nest Fresh. You can also check we for links to other websites and articles that we think you might find relevant, informative and interesting. Until then, thank you for stopping by and for being a Nest Fresh customer.

Safety is Job One
In order to ensure the safest eggs possible, Nest Fresh employs several Quality Control programs and inspections. We were one of the first cage free egg companies nationally to institute a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) as a USDA-sponsored Total Quality Assurance plan for our production, processing and distribution processes. This program calls for periodic checks throughout the day of critical control points where bacterial contamination could occur, including things like egg wash water temperature and refrigeration temperature. Besides the quarterly inspections of our product that the Colorado Department of Agriculture conducts at our plant and in the stores, Nest Fresh also passed our annual USDA Audit with a Superior Rating, which is the highest rating possible. You can be assured that we take the steps necessary to make the Nest Fresh product you buy as safe as possible for you.
